Friends!!

Just writing a quick note to let everyone know that I've received their messages and questions. I've been super busy recently and haven't been able to get back to everyone as fast as I'd like to. I will try and answer every ones messages as soon as I can. I know when you have hashimoto's you want to figure out what can help you as fast as you can so you don't have to keep suffering. Thanks so much for writing to me. Crystal :)

  2. I was diagnosed 9 days ago. I have been desperatly seeking info to naturally cure this. Me and meds don't get along too well. I read all of the posts and I will never be able to thank you enough. It has been said that Heavenly Father hears our prayers but it is usually through another that he answers them. I don't know yet as I have not yet had time to try these protocols but I very much feel this could be my answer. Thank you for taking the journey and thank you for putting it out there.

  4. Crystal - What supplements to do you take? My doctor says he ignores the antibodies on the test results because there is no cure! Meanwhile my hair is falling out at an alarming rate, I am exhausted and depressed. I appreciate your help. Vanessa

  5. Hi Vanessa!
Ignoring TPO antibodies is one of the most ignorant things a doctor could do! I was told the same thing by multiple endos and doctors. They were all WRONG! The main thing I took to lower my antibodies was 200mcgs of Selenium and 400IU of Vitamin E. I have links to the brands I use on my blog. What completly got rid of my antibodies was finding out what foods I was allergic to and cutting them out of my diet. In my case it was Cow's milk. Hope this helps! :)

  6. Hi ,

i found out about my Hashi 11/2 yrs ago with no interest of treatment from doctors. Ive been in and of hospital in the last 6 months for heart palpation with increased rate of up to 170-180 which is a horrible feeling. By now I don't panic and don't end up in Er. But all the doctors : family, enco, cardio, gastro.... have shrugged their shoulders, rolled their eyes and used words like : I'm lost for words ! I have no idea ! I don't know! After two stress echo and few holder monitors it was confirmed a " non-cardiac" tachycardia. I've been taking levi 25mcg for last 3 months and TSH level they just checked in ER yesterday ( my co-workers made me go) was 6.4 and about two wks ago was 4.25. I just got tested for TPO and IgAi and complete food panel after i read your blog . waiting for results anxiously ! But i also suffer from body aches :( which they are leaning towards fibro or mysofacial syndrome. But nobody CARES about Hashimoto . Im going to try the supplements : brazilian nuts ( selenium ) and vit E. Thank you a million Crystal !!!!!

  7. Dear Crystal,
I actually came across your blog on babycenter.com and was curious since I was diagnosed with hypo in 2010, 6 months after having my 2nd baby and being on the yaz birth control which I know sounds strange but I think it contributed this. I just went out and purchased the selenium and e as you suggest, I also just had my blood work done, I go every 90 days to keep a close eye eventhough I had no idea what I was looking for I just didnt want it to get worse. I am 32 and take 100mcg of synthroid at night because the side effects were horrible for me during the day.
    my recent blood work was

    TSh 1.720
    Thyroxine (T4) 6.2
    T3 Uptake 33
    Free Thyroxne Index 2.0
    Tri (T3) 103
    Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Ab 349
    Antithroglobulin Ab 3221

I have no idea what any of this means, I have read your blog several times and its so much to take in at once.
ANY ADVICE OR SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT I SHOULD DO OR TAKE???? YOUR HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

    1. Alyson,
Sorry to hear you are going through this after having a baby. Pregnancy, birth control and hormonal imbalances can really wreak havoc on the thyroid. Low progesterone can cause low thyroid hormone production. You're free T3 is very low. It needs to be in the upper third of the range (2.2- 4.2) I always feel best when mine is atleast at a 3.5! Taking and extra 25mg of zinc with 1mg of copper can up your Free T3 levels. Free T4 is converted into Free T3 in your liver. You do have elevated TPO antibodies (Hashimoto's disease)They should be under 60 and very high Antithroglobulin antibodies. They should be under 14. I am a firm believer that we form antibodies against our own tissues due to food and environmental allergens. Have you been tested for food allergens through blood work. Some women will develope allergies during pregnancy.

  8. Hi Crystal! Just ran across your site and LOVE it. I too was just recently diagnosed after having my twins. This is such an inspiration! I checked with my ND and we found out I am allergic to, get this: peanuts, dairy, wheat, shellfish, and corn. Life has been pretty hard since trying to eliminate these but I know it will pay off in the end! My question to you is: Do you still have to avoid dairy or can you eat it now? Also, will you be taking selenium the rest of your life do you think?

    1. Hi Mindy!
Did your doctor let you know how allergic you were to each food? I was also allergic to multiple foods like almonds, eggs, wheat. They were all in the low numbers. They will usually tell you a case number the allergen level is in from a 1 to 5. Milk was the highest for me and was causing my elevated TPO antibodies. You may not need to cut out everything at once. Most people are mildly allergic to multiple foods, but not enough to cause damage to their bodies. I would stop eating one food at a time for 6 months then see how you feel and get your thyroid retested. This way through process of elimination you can see what allergen may be causing your Hashimoto's disease. I do eat dairy on occasion but It's small amounts of cultured dairy like sour cream or cheese. Sometimes I will eat milk chocolate. I only do this a few times a month in moderation and I never drink milk or eat butter. After 4 years on selenium I've been able to cut back to 1 200mcg pill a week and still keep my thyroid regulated. Hope this helps! :)

  9. Hi,
Sorry to hear you've been having to deal with this nasty disease. How did your test results turn out? May I suggest that you take an actual selenium supplement like I linked in my blog. The problem with brazil nuts is that they don't have exact amounts of selenium so you don't know how much you are getting. Also the selenium I take is a body prefered form of organic yeast bound selenium. When taking supplements it's best to take a form the the body has an easier time converting to what the body actually uses. Hope you are feeling better soon!

  11. Dear Crystal,
I am writing for you from Hungary.
Thank you so much for your blog! I was diagnosed with this disease as well, in December 2011, but it seems I had it since giving birth in 2004.
As I was not willing to take the synthetic hormons, I started searching for other ways to find a cure though I was told it cannot be cured. I am so enthusiastic that you managed to get out of it, it gives such a hope!
Thanks for the loads of information, wishing you all the best!

  13. Hi Crystal,
Congratulations on the birth of your daughter and on "curing" your Hashimoto's disease. Your story was inspiring and has given me hope that I can win this battle. I just wanted to clarify one piece of information with you. I know that you were hypothyroid with your Hashi's. Did you take any synthroid or natural thyroid supplementation at all during your journey? Also, were your adrenals a factor in your health at all? Thanks for all of your help. It is nice to know we are not alone in this journey towards health.
    Heather
